摘要
Within the field of ergonomics, there has always been some focus on challenges related to transportation. Transportation as a focus is unique, as the environment is extremely dynamic, driving performance can be affected by a wide variety of variables, there are many emerging vehicle technologies, and it involves an inherently dangerous activity being performed by humans who are prone to error. To delve further into both the persistent and emerging topics of interest related to ergonomics in transportation, bibliometric analysis was performed and analyzed, with a focus on safety, more specifically driver fatigue. This study involved a systematic literature review using tools such as Scopus, VOSViewer, MaxQDA, CiteSpace, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The procedures for conducting analysis with each tool will be described, and the leading authors, journals, and areas of further research are identified. The findings of this study suggest that ergonomics within transportation, specifically ergonomic considerations related to driver fatigue and safety, is an area within ergonomics and human factors engineering that has had persistent challenges along with many emerging areas but also needs further research to expand on the academic knowledge available surrounding this topic.
