RADIO JOURNALISM IN THE QUILOMBOLA COMMUNITY OF SANTA MARIA DAS MANGUEIRAS

This article aims to analyze the role of radio journalism in the perception of the Quilombola Community of Santa Maria das Mangueiras, located in the state of Tocantins. To achieve this goal, it seeks to outline the profile of this community, investigating access to and consumption of information through radio. The research adopts a qualitative approach, relying on the analysis of documentary, bibliographic, and legislative sources as fundamental methods for investigation. These methods are employed to compare arguments and facts present in the literature to provide the best solution to the problem addressed. Additionally, semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten community residents. In the visited community, radio has become a means of information and affection, strengthening the bonds among residents and the community at large. Radio journalism has proven to be an important tool in communicating with Quilombola communities. In the visited community, residents have established a relationship of trust with the radio, which has become a means of information and entertainment.
