Contribution of Geography to the curriculum design of Vocational Education

摘要
According to the International Charter on Geographical Education regarding the subject of Geography, this curricular area can provide students an important way to develop not only theoretical-practical skills, but also to assimilate ways of promoting citizenship. This article aims to present a study carried out in a professional education context. It was filled up by the preoccupation of understanding the importance of Geography in the construction of the curricular design in such educative context. In terms of methodology, it was adopted a qualitative analysis, by carrying out surveys through interviews with professionals that operate in this field. The results pointed to the idea that geographic education provides students essential skills to understand the world, also helping them to develop personal autonomy. It was concluded that geographic content is essential in the drawing of professional courses.
