A Two-Component 2-D FDFD Eigenmode Method Incorporated with the Conformal Technique

A two-component two-dimensional (2-D) finite difference frequency domain (FDFD) eigenmode method incorporated with the conformal technique is proposed. The new formulations of the coefficients for the matrix equation have been derived by combining the conventional two-component eigenmode method with the conformal technique or by eliminating the two magnetic field components from the four-component conformal eigenmode method. The resulting matrix equation size is only a quarter compared with the four-component counterpart. The numerical results are given to show the accuracy and efficacy of the proposed method.
