Use of Digital Technologies in Nursing Homes at a Rural Area of Northern Finland

Representatives of fifteen nursing homes in Kainuu region were interviewed for use and need of digital technologies at the end of Covid-19 pandemic. The digital technologies were used mostly in drug supply management, activation of elderly persons and already for longer time in personal security of the tenants. The most often presented needs for further or improved technologies were related to professional communication and exchange of data with public health care. Surprisingly, needs for improved health monitoring tools were little mentioned apart from devices or applications for assessment of functional capacity of home-living elderly persons.
