A Compact Multiband Monopole Antenna for Wi-Fi Applications

摘要
This paper introduces a compact multiband monopole antenna designed for Wi-Fi applications, covering frequency bands including the 2.4GHz band, 3.5GHz band (sub-6G), 5GHz band, and 6GHz band. These frequency bands encompass both previous standards such as 802.11x and the latest 802.11ax and 802.11be, corresponding to Wi-Fi 6/6e and Wi-Fi 7. The antenna is constructed from a low-cost two-layer FR-4 PCB with dimensions of 30 x 10 x 1.6 mm(3). The antenna features four resonant frequencies at 2.45GHz, 3.56GHz, 5.52GHz, and 6.41GHz, enabling the desired bandwidth. Furthermore, the antenna demonstrates excellent performance at these resonant frequencies, all exhibiting the expected omni-directional radiation patterns, with gains of 1.71dBi, 2.06dBi, 4.25dBi, and 4.11dBi, respectively. The compact multiband monopole antenna is highly suitable for wireless routers, IoT devices, and various applications in the context of Wi-Fi 7 in the future.
