The socioeconomic gap in the development of Korean adolescents' occupational aspirations while approaching the post-secondary transition

摘要
This study longitudinally investigates the socioeconomic differentials in South Korean adolescents' occupational aspiration development while they approach the post-secondary transition. It also takes into account the two-fold relation between socioeconomic status and academic performance in shaping occupational aspirations: mediation and interaction. Using the Korean Education and Employment Panel (KEEP), the study documents two main results. First, there exists a significant socioeconomic gap in Korean adolescents' occupational aspirations which is neither widened nor narrowed over the transition period. Second, the relationship between socioeconomic status and academic performance is not limited to mediation but demonstrates a significant interaction in developing occupational aspirations. Elle prend & eacute;galement en compte la relation double entre le statut socio & eacute;conomique et la performance acad & eacute;mique dans la formation des aspirations professionnelles : m & eacute;diation et interaction. Este estudio investiga longitudinalmente las diferencias socioecon & oacute;micas en el desarrollo de la aspiraci & oacute;n ocupacional de los adolescentes surcoreanos mientras se acercan a la transici & oacute;n postsecundaria. Tambi & eacute;n tiene en cuenta la relaci & oacute;n doble entre el estatus socioecon & oacute;mico y el rendimiento acad & eacute;mico en la formaci & oacute;n de las aspiraciones ocupacionales: mediaci & oacute;n e interacci & oacute;n. Utilizando el Panel de Educaci & oacute;n y Empleo de Corea (KEEP), el estudio documenta dos resultados principales. Diese Studie untersucht longitudinal die sozio & ouml;konomischen Unterschiede in der Entwicklung der beruflichen Bestrebungen s & uuml;dkoreanischer Jugendlicher, w & auml;hrend sie sich dem & Uuml;bergang nach der Sekundarstufe n & auml;hern. Sie ber & uuml;cksichtigt auch die doppelte Beziehung zwischen sozio & ouml;konomischem Status und akademischer Leistung bei der Formung beruflicher Bestrebungen: Vermittlung und Interaktion. Unter Verwendung des Korean Education and Employment Panel (KEEP) dokumentiert die Studie zwei Hauptergebnisse. Erstens, es besteht eine signifikante sozio & ouml;konomische Kluft in den beruflichen Bestrebungen koreanischer Jugendlicher, die sich weder w & auml;hrend der & Uuml;bergangszeit vergr & ouml;ss ert noch verkleinert. Zweitens, die Beziehung zwischen sozio & ouml;konomischem Status und akademischer Leistung beschr & auml;nkt sich nicht auf Vermittlung, sondern zeigt eine signifikante Interaktion bei der Entwicklung beruflicher Bestrebungen.
