摘要
This study aims to analyze the variation in wealth generated and distributed among economic agents in cyclical and non-cyclical consumption sectors in periods of economic expansion and recession. The sample included all companies in the respective sectors, according to the Brazil, Stock Exchange B3 sector classification that provided the Statement of Added Value (DVA) between 2009 and 2019. The period of economic expansion established was between 2009 and 2013, 2014 and 2016 (recession) and between 2017 and 2019 (expansion) based on the Economic Cycle Dating Committee (CODACE, 2020) report. A descriptive qualitative analysis also was proposed together with the calculation of the growth rate of the generated wealth. The results showed that the sectors did not show growth in wealth generation in the period of recession. However, the break in the growth trend appeared first in the cyclical consumption sector, which is considered sensitive in periods of recession according to the Business Cycle Theory. Regarding the distribution to economic agents, the remuneration of equity group showed higher growth rates in the period of expansion in both, however in the period of recession this group was more impacted by negative rates.
