Despite a 2015 meeting to propose a joint definition of Alzheimer disease (AD),(1) the National Institute of Aging and Alzheimer's Association (NIA-AA) and the International Working Group (IWG) continue to advocate for distinct disease concepts (biological vs clinico-biological)(2) and frameworks for the diagnosis of AD, with differences being a source of ongoing debate in the field.
