<正> In order to confirm the theory of rotational adaptation process in the. whole atmosphere, a simplified hemispheric problem has been investigated and a lot of numerical experiments have been made. The numerical results obtained are in good agreement with theoretical analyses, i.e. if there is only one centre of potential vorticity the flow will be changed into pure zonal circulation, and if there are two or more centres, all these centres will always be maintained and a pure zonal circulation would never be established. Besides, the numerical results have also shown some general characters of flow structure in the period of transition from low to high index circulation and the dependence of characteristic time of rotational adaptation process on the scale of motion. The characteristic time is equal to 4 days to one half month approximately under the conditions similar to the actual atmosphere.
