<正> From the general correlations of particulate fluidization,the present paper proposes thefollowing expression valid for all particle-fluid systems involving simultaneous particle-fluid mo-tion in the steady state but not operating in the aggregative state,ε~n=u'_o-u'd(ε/(1-ε)).It has been found that the above relation can be used to describe ten modes of operation ofgeneralized fluidization,including all the cases studied experimentally by Elgin and his asso-ciates for which analytical solutions have been derived in the present work for correlatingthe variables involved.Although,strictly speaking,the findings were based on uniform spheres,the paper discusses the possibilities of extending the present results to particles other than spheresand having a range of particle-size distribution.For moving beds operating at relative fluid-particle velocities below critical fluidization,pressure drop can be related to relative fluid-particle velocity by modifying the above equation to(Φ0/(1-ε))1/mε(_o~n)=u'_o-u'd(εη/(1-ε_o)).To facilitate computation,a nomographic solution is presented,which,as is shown by numericalexamples,can be used for rapid solution of numerous problems in process engineering.
