摘要
In view of the poor deformability and low tenacity of bio-treated soil, discrete basalt fiber was used to investigate the effects of fiber length and content on the strength and tenacity of MICP-treated sand through conducting unconfined compressive strength tests and microscopic observation. Test results show that basalt fiber can improve the strength and tenacity of MICP-treated sand effectively. The influence of fiber length on the strength and tenacity is related to the fiber content, showing that if the fiber content is lower, the strength and tenacity of bio-cemented sand increase with the increase of fiber length, whereas in terms of higher fiber content, the strength and tenacity increase first and then decrease with the increasing fiber length. As the fiber content increases, the strength and tenacity increase first and then decrease with an optimal fiber content ranging from 0.3% to 0.5%. In this study, the optimal basalt fiber content and length are 0.3% and 20 mm, respectively. © 2019, Editorial Board of Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. All right reserved.
