Quantum computing has parallel computing processing capabilities unmatched by classical computing technologies. Therefore, this paper studies the application of quantum computing in power flow calculation. In view of the future needs of the power system and considering the characteristics of the current quantum computer, this paper proposes the variational quantum algorithm to solve the power flow problem. Based on the establishment of the objective function, the construction of the basic quantum test circuit and the design of the variational circuit, a variational quantum model suitable for the power flow calculation of the power system is constructed. Finally, the effectiveness of the variational quantum algorithm is tested on the IEEE system using a quantum simulator as well as a real quantum computer. ©2023 Chin.Soc.for Elec.Eng.
