Based on a modified gasoline engine,this paper studied the effects of EGR rate and ignition timing on spark assisted homogeneous compression ignition (SACI) combustion and emission performance,and analyzed the relationship between the spark ignition/compression ignition(SI/CI)switching timing and combustion parameters. The results show that external exhaust gas recirculation (EGR)can effectively reduce pressure rise rate,and suppress knocking,it also plays a role in improving fuel economy and NOx emissions. By adjusting the ignition timing to fit CA50 and SI/CI switching timing within the range of 9~10°CA ATDC and 2°CA ATDC respectively,the engine can obtain the best torque and BSFC. © 2023 Editorial Board of Jilin University.
