Analyzing the current situation of Denizli home textile sector

Home textiles constitute one of the product groups, which become prominent in global textile and clothing market and whose consumption is gradually increased. Turkey, which is a significant player and exporter in global textile and clothing market, is also one of the leading countries in home textiles. As for that, Denizli is the province in Turkey in which home textile sector is powerfully occurred and clustered. In this context, the study aims to determine the current inventories of Denizli home textile sector, which is the most powerful and clustered home textile sector within Turkey. In accordance with the aim of the research, a survey is conducted to home textile enterprises, which operate in Denizli home textile sector. Afterwards, obtained data are evaluated and analyzed. According to the obtained results, participating enterprises approximately obtain 55% of their turnover from exports. Besides, 71% of the enterprises continue with branding efforts whereas 55% possesses design unit, 54% owns product development unit and 31% possesses research and development unit. On the other hand, 62% of the participating enterprises have applied to any of intellectual properties (patent, utility model, industrial design registration, trademark registration). © 2020, Chamber of Textile Engineers.
