A sustentabilidade é promovida pelo desenvolvimento sustentável, sendo determinada pelo anseio de condições sociais e econômicas, como altos níveis de participação da população e baixos níveis de desemprego. A sustentabilidade é alcançada quando se satisfaz as necessidades das gerações atuais e futuras sem a perda da integridade do meio ambiente.
