Numerical Study on Throughflow Simulation of Components and Full Engine of Aero-Engine

For the aero-engine components and the full-engine, in order to achieve fast and accurate analysis of flow field and performance, relevant study was carried out based on the time-marching throughflow method, and a corresponding solution program was developed. On the basis of the strictly conservative throughflow model, integrated with the solution theory of computational fluid dynamics, simulation verifications of the axial and centrifugal flow compressors, and axial turbine has been implemented successively. Finally, further numerical simulation verification has been implemented for the full-engine of a micro turbo-engine in terms of its ground throttling characteristics. The results show that the developed throughflow simulation program is stable in solution, and can quickly obtain the meridian flow field and the overall characteristics of different kinds of engine components, as well as the full-engine. Among them, the deviation between the prediction of the overall characteristics and the experiment is less than 7%, which meets the accuracy requirements of the engineering applications. © 2023 Science Press.
