摘要
In respect of the pressure vessels, yield factor y and maintenance factor m are two significant gasket parameters for flange design. The values of y and m given in the current ASME VIII code are empirical values and not related to the leakage rate. The shortages of current standard test methods for gasket parameters of flange sealing structure based on leakage rate are analyzed. The sealing performance test of graphite spiral wound gasket under different medium pressure and different loading/unloading cycles is carried out, a more reasonable and practical test method for gasket parameters y and m is proposed. By fitting the relationship between the leakage rate of different initial gasket surface pressure and gasket maintenance factor m, the values of y and m that meet the requirements of different tightness class are obtained, and the values of y and m are optimized to make it more convenient for engineering application. The new gasket parameters test method considers the correlation between y and m, which can reflect the gasket characteristics more accurately and comprehensively, providing support for the design of flange sealing structure based on leakage rate and reducing the leakage rate of petrochemical plant. © 2020 Journal of Mechanical Engineering.
