Modeling Wave Breaking and Wave Setup by One-dimensional Two-layer Boussinesq Model

A simple numerical model of two-layer Boussinesq equations is proposed. The number of governing equations is reduced from 10 to 8. An empirical eddy viscosity model is adopted to account for wave breaking. The simple method based on the FUNWAVE is employed to simulate the wet-dry boundary. Accuracy of the dispersion, shoaling gradient and nonlinearity of the model is verified by two examples. Other two examples show that the wave breaking and wet-dry boundary are well simulated. © 2023 Editorial office of Ship Building of China. All rights reserved.
