Moneyball recruitment has paid dividends for Liverpool Football Club, but does it replace the good old talent scout? SOON AFTER the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) bought the Boston Red Sox Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise in 2002, John W Henry, FSG’s co-founder, asked Billy Beane to take over as Red Sox general manager.
