摘要
The aim of this study is to present the potential benefits of soybean and beef tallow biodiesel with and without additives on a stationary engine for fuel consumption and low emissions. The biodiesel characterisation has been presented. The additives used in the tests were acetone (1%), 2-butanol (2%), isopropanol (2%), n-butanol and ethanol (2%). The blends of diesel–biodiesel were B0 (diesel), B20, B30, B50, B75, B100 (soybean), B100 (beef tallow). Five fuels had a differentiated performance in reducing NOx, strongly indicating that it was possible to reduce NOx and control such emissions. The B30 (70% diesel, 15% soybean biodiesel and 15% beef tallow biodiesel) reduced 5.8% of NOx compared with diesel. In B30 with 1% acetone, the reduction of NOx compared with diesel was 7.4%, enhancing the result of B30 without the additive. The BSFC of B5 was 5.5% less than diesel. © 2022 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
