摘要
PurposeThe tuned mass damper-clutching inerter (TMDCI), which has been recently developed, has twofold benefits: the mass amplification effect and energy absorption capacity of the inerter. This study investigates a base-isolated structure with TMDCI under seismic loading with optimal design and performance.MethodsThe nonlinear force-deformation behavior of TMDCI under non-stationary earthquake excitation was considered for obtaining the stochastic response of isolated structures using a time-dependent equivalent linearization technique. Comparisons of non-stationary and stationary excitations of isolated structures were made. The essential key parameters, including superstructure flexibility, isolation period, and isolation damping ratio of TMDCI with optimum parameters, were also examined. The base-isolated structure response under real earthquake excitation with TMDCI was examined with respect to the nonlinear model. Results and ConclusionThe isolated structure's root mean absolute square acceleration achieved a minimum value by considering the optimum performance of TMDCI. The response of the base-isolated structure with TMDCI under real ground motion excitation was correlated with stochastic analysis. A closed form of equivalent expressions was derived for the damping of TMDCI. Nonlinear analysis was found to match in terms of bearing displacement, absolute acceleration, equivalent inertance, and damping of TMDCI.
