A new image encryption scheme based on block compressive sensing and chaotic laser system for IoT

To ensure the secure and efficient transmission of images in Internet of Things scenarios, a novel image compression-encryption scheme is proposed based on compressive sensing (CS) and chaotic system. To explore the feasibility of using laser systems for CS measurement, we first use a chaotic laser system with a complex phase space structure to construct measurement matrices. Then the generation efficiency of measurement matrices is further improved by the cyclic matrix method. To enhance the image reconstruction quality, a new segmented linear thresholding method is designed to increase image sparsity before CS sampling. Furthermore, block compression sensing is developed for large-sized images, which can improve image reconstruction efficiency and reduce storage resource overhead by evenly dividing the image into multiple smaller blocks. The simulation results verify that the cryptosystem has good compression performance, high security and robustness, and low implementation cost.
