摘要
The revisions to the Lead and Copper Rule (LCRR) have been at the forefront of water quality conversations since they were published in January 2020. Nearly two years later, in December 2021, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced its intent to strengthen the LCRR through the development of a new regulation, the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI). The EPA intends to finalize the LCRI over the next few years, as work continues to create a rule that meets the goal of removing lead sources in public drinking water systems. In the meantime, the LCRR will go into effect, with compliance required by October 16, 2024, and water systems should not delay the Lead Service Line inventories that will be required. © 2022 New England Water Works Association.
