Response of summer groundnut (Arachis hypogaea)-rainy-season pearlmillet (Pennisetum glaucum) cropping sequence to fertilizer application

A study on nutrient management in summer groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)-rainy-season pearlmillet [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br. emend. Stuntz] crop rotation was conducted on a sandy-loam soils of middle Gujarat during 1987-88 and 1988-89. Both the crops responded to the application of nitrogen and phosphorus with increasing trend. The residual effect of N applied to summer groundnut on the succeeding K rainy-season pearlmillet was observed only in the first year. The maximum yearly net return was accrued under highest level of N and P fertilizers in both the crops.
