DIOXOMOLYBDENUM(VI) COMPLEXES WITH A TERDENTATE SCHIFF-BASE LIGAND AND IMIDAZOLE BASES

摘要
A terdentate ligand, H2SAPT (containing ONS donor set), obtained by condensing 2-aminothiophenol with salicylaldehyde, reacts with MoO2(acac)2 in presence of imidazole or substituted imidazoles (L) in THF medium to form a series of mononuclear, six-coordinated dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes of formula [MoO2(SAPT)(L)]. These are diamagnetic and non-electrolytic complexes containing the cis-MoO(2)2+ core. Analytical data and other measurements rule out the possibility of the presence of Mo2O3 or Mo2O5 core structures in these complexes. The complexes are characterised on the basis of analytical, conductivity, IR and H-1 NMR spectral and polarographic data. The thermogravimetric measurements support the labile binding of the imidazole donors in these complexes.
