摘要
Based on a microscopic theory of inhomogeneous fluids we derive a non-local expression for the effective interface Hamiltonian of a fluctuating liquid-vapor interface. For smooth interface configurations the leading term of this expression takes on the familiar form being proportional to the total area spanned by the interface.
