摘要
:
Radial particle transport and the damping of the m=1 diocotron mode from rotational pumping have been measured on a magnetized electron column. Rotational pumping is collisional dissipation of the axial compressions caused by E×B rotation of the column through asymmetric confining potentials. The observed transport rates are in close agreement with theory. © 1995 The American Physical Society.
