Ultrasonic relaxational absorption was observed in solutions of NaI in i-PrOH. Assuming the excess ultrasonic absorption to be caused by the relaxation of the dissociation equilibrium of NaI in the solutions, the dissociation and recombination rates of NaI, the Arrhenius activation energy, and the enthalpy and volume changes due to dissociation were calculated; these were compared with the values estimated from other methods. An increase of the dissociation constant of NaI was observed with an increase in the concentration of H//2O in i-PrOH-H//2O mixtures.
