TWISTED SOLITONS IN BIREFRINGENT OPTICAL FIBERS

摘要：
The coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations governing optical pulse propagation in birefringent fibers are shown to have solitonlike solutions that mix the two polarizations. These are essentially governed by the scalar nonlinear Schrodinger equation and hence exhibit all the phenomena associated with that equation.
