摘要：

This work is a first analysis of the main defensive problems in the Philippine Islands during the reign of Charles II of Spain made from documentation placed in the Archivo General de Indias. Discussed aspects such as lack of troops, weapons, mostly artillery, and the difficulty to improve Island's fortifications because of the lack of money sent from the Viceroyalty of New Spain.
