By the aid of a fast electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) it is possible to obtain a resolution in the range of nanograms with measuring times of one millisecond, enabling us to use high scan rates (some volts/second) in the cyclic voltammetry (CV). Polypyrrole (PPy) films were synthesized from aqueous solutions. Simultaneous anion and cation transport takes place during reduction and oxidation by CV as can be seen by comparing charge and mass changes. Interesting effects can be observed with films, synthesized from a para-toluensulfonat (TsO) solution. Only one part can be exchanged and one receives PPy films with two different redox potentials.
