The semantics of colors in Fantastic Literature

This study aims to explore how the use of colors construes Fantastic Literature texts, especially the green color that becomes to represent supernatural subjects in contemporary literature, taking into consideration that the red and black were the traditional colors for this purpose. Based on TzvetanTodorov's structuralist studies, Manfred Luker's symbology and Luis Vax's polycromy and on the analysis of representative works, we point out a new way to understand the Fantastic Literature: the use of green color as a distinctive feature of supernatural texts.
