Social uses of facebook by brazilian migrants in sweden: the groups in identity construction

From the results found in the master's thesis, this article aims to present them based on the analysis of social uses of Facebook by migrant subjects. Methodologically, a qualitative research was conducted with the combination of procedures such as online forms, Skype interviews and comments in Facebook groups. We started from the understanding of the media's social usage (MART:IN-BARBERO) crossed by identity issues (WOODWARD) to comprehend the importance of the appropriations of thematic groups on Facebook by the migrants. We realized that the subjects surveyed appropriated Facebook in different ways to connect, to feel closer to Brazil and Brazilian migrants in Sweden in order to build and negotiate their identities.
