摘要
The exponential increase in the sale of electronic products and their rapid disposal due to emerging trends and technology has resulted in the generation of electronic waste, also known as e-waste. This paper presents a review on the sale of electronic appliances and the amount of e-waste generated by different sectors and devices during the last few years. Predictions on the future amount of e-waste are based on the study and analysis of the current trends, followed by the sales and obsolescence of electronic devices. The threats and hazards presented by the dangerous constituents present in these devices will be studied in their proper perspective and their constitution analysed. The purpose of this study is to predict approximately the amount of e-waste and hazardous constituents that will be required to be recycled and disposed of safely by the year 2020.
