Radhakamal Mukerjee's dream of a prosperous rural India, his endeavour to get all problems looked at in a 'holistic' manner, still remain a dream in the India of 1992 because the model of development we have chosen is based on the neo-classical concept of the economic process which gives primacy to 'market mediation' as the best means of resolving the issues of production and distribution.
