BETWEEN POVERTY AND AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION: DISPERSED RURAL POPULATION IN COLOMBIA, 2016

The rural areas of Colombia have experienced throughout their history, the reproduction of conditions of poverty and, with greater intensity, the internal armed conflict. That is why it is relevant to carry out a characterization of the population from the multidimensional poverty index and the agricultural economic activities provided by the National Agricultural Census of 2016, in order to establish the basic needs to be satisfied, the type of agricultural production needed, and to realize the possibilities of institutional productive strengthening that seek to improve the living conditions of approximately half the dispersed rural population that is in a poverty condition and whose production activities revolve around the transformation of agricultural products and the generation of agrarian services in such a way that, strengthening rural economies will make it possible to reduce the gap between the countryside and the cities.
