SEX-ROLE ORIENTATION AND EXPECTATIONS ABOUT COUNSELING

We examined the relationship between sex role orientation and expectations about counseling in 121 female and 127 male college students who completed the Bem (1974) Sex Role Inventory and the Expectations About Counseling Questionnaire (Tinsley, Workman, & Kass, 1980). Using multiple regression analyses, we identified significant predictors for 15 of the 17 scales, with femininity accounting for most of the explained variance. Gender accounted for little variance across all variables.
