摘要
Background. Microaerophilic, Gram-negative bacteria Helicobacter pylori is considered to be the second most frequently occurring pathogen in people. Since 1994 WHO considered the bacteria as one of cancerogenic. The bacteria constitutes an etiological factor in alimentary tract diseases. Helicobacter pylori is also prevalent in dental plaque. Objectives. The aim of this study was the determination of oral hygienic habits and the occurrence of anti-Helicobacter pylori IgG antibodies in saliva. Material and methods. The study involved 46 subjects (21 boys and 25 girls). Mean subject age was 12.5 years +/- 3 months. Questionnaire, clinical and immunological studies were performed. Mixed unstimulated saliva from the bottom of the oral cavity was collected for examination. RapiTest (R) H.pylori and Helico Test (R) were used. Results. IgG class antibodies against Helicobacter pylori were present in 16 subjects, (4 boys and 12 girls). Patients with IgG antibodies and from control group most often brushed their teeth twice a day. 18% of patients with IgG antibodies used mouth rinses with fluorides. Conclusions. There were no differences in oral hygiene habits in patients with IgG antibodies and in patients from control group.
