摘要
In the paper the author defines the term "single-industry municipality", analyses the transformation of their socio-economic development, groups single-industry municipalities by their characteristics and the level of socio-economic development (1st group - towns characterized by balanced socio-economic development; 2nd group - towns with unbalanced socio-economic development (arrested economic development); 3rd group - towns with unbalanced socio-economic development (arrested social development); 4th group - towns with unbalaced degenerating type of socio-economic development). The prospective directions of socio-economic development of single-industry municipalities in Sverdlovsk oblast are suggested: keeping industrial specialization provided its technology-intensive base is improved; the development of alternative industries, the service sector and entrepreneurship; the development of infrastructure; accelerated development of social sphere.
