We suggest that the fractal nature of quantum mechanical paths should play a role in non-local order parameters in gauge theory, like the Wilson loop. We study the geometry of quantum mechanical paths by measuring the length of paths and its critical exponent (Hausdorff dimension). For local potentials we find results compatible with d(H) = 2. Then we consider the length of a quark propagator in lattice QCD. We give a definition and present some numerical results for a simplified free propagator.
