This article brings together phenomenological psychology and contemporary theater through the philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty's concepts of spatiality and corporality. Starting from the phenomenological principle that we are "beings in situation", the author suggests that our bodies can be, in themselves, the stage of a theatricality that is intensely experienced thanks to states, places, and ambiences, thereby freeing ourselves from the need of preestablished, structured scripts.
