Fals Borda: The Making of a "Disorganous" Intellectual

This article deals with how Colombian sociologist Orlando Fals Borda experienced the 60's. Its overall content attempts to explore the most relevant issues which gradually and eventually defined his intellectual career. The text comprises two major sections and a brief conclusion. The first section describes the time when Fals Borda committed himself to theories of modernization as well as to developmental policies adopted by the government. The second section gives an account of the years in which this sociologist gradually abandoned those approaches and began a new intellectual career, from an autonomous and politically radical perspective.
