摘要：

This essay deals with the publication of "Poesias completas" [Complete Poetry] written and edited by Machado de Assis in 1901. It tries to analyze some aspects of his poetry, such as indigenism, eroticism and erudition in the poems put together by the author himself, comparing them with other discourses of the 19th century, mainly those of the plastic arts. This essay includes a commentary on "O Almada", a "heroiccomic" poem according to Assis's definition, focusing on the historical discussion he also brought forth.
