摘要
The article discusses two main functions of the British news discourse, i.e. the influence and the message. Both functions are performed with a different level of intensity depending on the stage of representation of a given event. In order to observe the interaction between the influence and the message, a news text is analyzed as a hyperstructure as opposed to macro- and microstructures. Thus, a news item is considered as an independent news story on one hand, and as a part of the topic-determined sequence on the other. This approach allows to see the specific character of the realization function of the influence mechanism in the catastrophe news discourse. Refs 13.
