Le chantier medieval dans le Sud-Est de la France: regard sur les techniques de construction et l'organisation du chantier a partir de quelques exemples (XIe-XIVe siecles)

The present article illustrates several aspects of the archaeological research on mediaeval construction in south-eastern France (11th-14th cent.) by studies in building archaeology led by the authors in various architectural and scientific contexts. It focuses on questions such as the know-how and its transfer, changes in the architectural project, the organization of the building process and its techniques and strategies, by analyzing the masonry and structure of the edifice and, in the case of the pope's palace in Avignon, by combined research on the architecture and the written sources.
