Iris Feature Extraction as a Biometric Identification Mechanism

摘要
This work presents the results derived from the implementation of a person's identification system based on iris recognition, as a part of a multiple biometric recognition system based on face, iris and hand features. The paper contains a review of the state-of-the-art and a detailed description of iris recognition system stages. Graphical interface and functions for segmentation, normalization, matching between templates and search in database were developed in MATLAB. The system was evaluated using images that belong to the CASIA database. The system evaluation provided a percentages of 81% for successful segmentation, 0% in false acceptance rates and 38% in false rejection rate. The latter percentage is reduced to 0% by entering five images of each eye for the same user.
