摘要
Phase transformation kinetics in 2- and 3-dimensional finite systems occurring by nucleation and growth, and in which nucleation occurs solely at the boundary edge, are considered. Attention is limited to the case where nucleation is completed prior to growth. Expressions are derived for the area fraction of material transformed as a function of time, X(t), which are exact within a probabilistic framework. Numerical results are obtained for X(t), and they are discussed and analyzed.
