The article lays out the main topics of the debate between liberalism and communitarianism on the field of political philosophy and considers the extent to which the Czech tradition of Hegelian consideration can play a part in this debate. The analysis of Milan Sobotka's latest work devoted to Hegel's Phenomenology of Mind and Philosophy of Law concludes that Sobotka, following the analysis of Joachim Ritter, succeeds in interpreting Hegel's concept of morality and his critique of Kantian morality in a way which accepts the key themes of the debate between liberalism and communitarianism, removing Hegel from the neomarxist field.
