CHAOTIC STREAMLINES AND A STRANGE NONCHAOTIC ATTRACTOR IN DIVERGENCE-FREE FLOWS ON THE 3-SPHERE

摘要
The Lagrangian flows of a particular divergenceless vector field on S3, which could model incompressible hydrodynamic flow, are analysed numerically for a special choice of parameters. The chaotic properties of the motions are displayed in three-dimensional plots and Poincare maps. A strange nonchaotic attractor is discovered and its fine structure is shown in a Poincare section at different scales in detail.
